AREA I-V Recommendations

AREA I:

A Grade of "C" Or Higher Is Required In Composition I And II At Ðǿմ«Ã½.  "D" Grades Will Not Transfer.

 

AREA II:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

Students attending Ðǿմ«Ã½ are required to take two Literature courses (6 SH) to meet Area II and/or Area V requirements.  Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to take two literature courses from the following to meet this requirement:  ENG 251/252 (American Literature I/II); ENG 261/262(English Literature I/II); or ENG 271/272 (World Literature I/II). 

 

AREA III:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen.  "D" grades will not transfer.

Students attending Ðǿմ«Ã½ are required to take two Science courses (8 SH) from Principles of Biology, General Chemistry, and Physical Science to meet Area III requirements.  Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to take two science courses from the following to meet this requirement:  BIO 101 (or103) (Intro/Prin of Biology I); CHM 111 (College Chemistry I); or PHS 112 (Physical Science II).

 

AREA IV:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

Students attending TROY are required to complete an Introduction to Leadership course.  Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to complete LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership) in Area IV to meet this requirement.

 

AREA V:

The remaining 17-20SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 17-20SH from the following:

  • LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership)(3 SH)-if not completed in Area IV
  • PHS 111 or GLY 101 (Physical Science I or Intro to Geology I) (4 SH) - for the 4 sh in Science section
  • *MTH 112 (Precalculus Algebra) (3 SH)
  • *MTH 231 (Math for Elementary Teacher I) (3 SH) 
  • *MTH 232 (Math for Elementary Teacher II) (3 SH)
  • ORI 101 (Orientation to College) (1 SH)
  • A second Literature course (3 SH) - if not taken in Area II  (This literature course should be selected from ENG 271/272 (World Lit I/II), ENG 251/252 (American Lit I/II), or ENG 261/262 (English Lit I/II)

Ðǿմ«Ã½ Baccalaureate Degrees

The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:

  1. A minimum of 120 SH
  2. At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
  3. No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
  4. At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with Ðǿմ«Ã½.
  5. Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at Ðǿմ«Ã½.
